Skin is a disruptive movement in the interior and exterior design sector. Born from a purpose-driven dialogue between design, visual arts and engineering, it sews a new skin on buildings by enhancing the relationship between humans and location.
The renowned Italian artist Alessandro Ciffo, who introduced silicone as the new ‘soft marble’ (XXI Silico) to art galleries, private collections and several homes worldwide, met with Sargomma, an Italian tier 1 rubber and plastic components’ manufacturer, to exchange their expertise in industry and arts.
Silicone, unlike compact and solid materials such as resin and plastics, provides flexibility, softness and, ultimately, a human touch, like a skin. It establishes a connection with people, who do not merely act as the product’s audience but as active participants in the scenic backdrop built around them and for them.
